Grasshopper... you may not like this answer, but you are way too young right now to know what you want in a sorority. Do your research before deciding which org to join, Alpha Kappa Alpha is a wonderful choice, but it is not the only choice. When you get into college, you can then see what each org does, their personality and their service and sisterhood.
Excuse the mild rudeness and immaturity of one of the posters. As a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, both organizations are doing great service to the community. You just make sure you choose the org that it is right for you.

Hi agree 100% with Sp08. She gave some excellent advice.
I'm an AKA and admission requirements differ depending on what college you go to. You have to make yourself known with them, and participate in their events to show your interest. Also, u have to keep your grades up. It is your responsibility to study and learn your facts and history....If you dont know these things, then how do you know you wanna join??? you cannot choose a sorority based on their colors or stereotypes(like the AKA's are the pretty girls), because it's about more than that. These are the things that will be looked at when considering your admission.
Straight Fact: Delta Sigma Theta is the most Illustrious Sorority. Do you want to be wearing Pink and Green? Ewwwwwww You will need some Pepto Bismal for that Pukey Green!!!!
