Alpha Hydrox/breakouts?

For the first few weeks is it normal to break out when using Alpha Hydrox products? Is this all of the ';bad Stuff'; from under being flushed out?Alpha Hydrox/breakouts?
NO. That whole ';oh, just hang in there, you always break out the first few weeks with any new product'; thing is total bunk, told to us by cosmetics companies who want us to keep using products we are clearly allergic to. [cough] ProActiv! [cough]

Your skin doesn't like the AHAs you are using. Full stop. It may stop making your face break out if you continue to use it, because you will simply be forcing your skin to deal with something it doesn't want to. The problem is that you will then still be damaging the lower levels of your skin, and you don't want to do that.

I've read skin care research on this. I mean, it's not really DANGEROUS to keep using a product this way, but why would you want to force your skin to get used to something that is damaging it, when you could just choose a new product? If you're using 12%, you could switch to 8% and see if that helps. Or you could try a BHA at a 1% or 2% concentration, which does essentially the same thing, but is a different type of exfoliant.

Good luck!
