What should be mixed with it and in what proportion, to make an hair oil effective for dandruff. I had no idea when I applied, that its usually mixed with other oils.I applied 100% pure tea tree oil to my hair, what harm will it cause?
Highly concentrated (full strength) tea tree oil may cause skin irritation even in people who are not allergic to the oil. These people may have less of a problem with more diluted oils. Some tea tree oil preparations contain other ingredients as well, some of which may cause irritation, allergy, or rash on their own.
A tea tree oil shampoo, or any natural shampoo with 2% tea tree oil (10 drops to an eight- ounce bottle), will help to unblock clogged hair follicles, moisturize the hair and keep the scalp free of bacteria and fungal problems.
Add a few drops of Tea tree oil to your regular shampoo to treat hair problems like persistent dandruff, itchy-scalp and even prevent head-lice. Massage it in, leave it on for 5-7 minutes and rinse off.
Add a few drops in a steam bath or vaporizer and inhale, a great relief for persistent colds and cough. Regular use of tea tree oil has been found to be effective in treating Asthma, bronchitis, catarrh, cough, sinusitis and even tuberculosis.
Tea tree oil mixed with other essential oils is especially good as a scalp treatment for relieving dandruff. Medical professionals list infection, poor diet, blood circulation and inadequate nerve stimulation as some of the causes of dandruff. A yeast that lives on the scalp.
After shaving or waxing, apply several drops of the oil to the newly waxed or shaved area. It helps to cut down redness or swelling. A lotion containing a few drops of tea tree oil will also work well. Ingrown hairs can be eliminated by massaging the oil into the skin. This method is effective for both men and women.

You might turn into one of those trees from the Wizard of Oz... throwing apples at people.
Smile. I have no idea.
I mix a few drops (three to six) with the amount of shampoo I'm using for one wash...so, about 1/2 tablespoon of shampoo and three, four, five, maybe six drops of tea tree oil.
You might want to mix it with an unscented shampoo, also.
I used to use a high end ';designer'; shampoo with tea tree oil, it was very expensive (and yet effective), but found a few drops of the essential oil with something like Sauve worked just as well.
What I would do right now, if I were you, is apply a hot oil conditioning treatment to your hair, or at the very least, massage a double or triple dose of regular conditioner into your hair, comb it through, and if you have a bonnet dryer, sit under the dryer for a few minutes to warm the conditioner and get it soaked into the cuticle of the hair really well...then rinse and rinse and rinse.
Tea tree oil is a potent natural antiseptic...it's gonna dry your hair out something awful, girl. You're better off with selsun blue or gold...or, call up a salon and see what they use.
