I'm interested in getting it more for the beginning and end connotation, but I am not a religious person in the least. Is the alpha omega tattoo always religious in nature?
Alpha and Omega are two symbols that definitely have a lot of meanings like the two above mentioned. You may find some Christians seeing that combination and assuming you have similar, if not the same, beliefs.
Here are all the possible meanings and connotations of Alpha: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha
And of Omega: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omega
(at least according to the Almighty Wikipedia....)Is the alpha omega tattoo always religious in nature?
It can be used for many things. And tattoo's are more for personal meaning then the general meaning. I have the tree of life down my side, and I'm atheist. Yes, its a major religous icon, however it has an alternative meaning to me. People won't see the symbols and and say ';Oh my god that persons religous!!!'; If it means something to you I say go for it, just keep looking, those words are expressed in many different forms.
It is part of the ancient Greek alphabet so not always religious, that would be like saying A and Z are religious. It was used in the bible (God said he was the beginning and the end). Besides, tattoos are what you make of them.
